The Battle Hardened Edition Of Dragon's Crown Pro Gets A New Bonus!

For those of you wise enough to have pre-ordered Dragon's Crown Pro from Gamestop you will have gotten, today, the "Battle-Hardened Edition" of the game. This simply means that the game comes packaged with a raised art inclusive steel book case (which is really nice), and a sealed card pack containing exclusive cards made to look like the game's character skills and common skills cards. They look a lot like tarot cards with George Kamitani art on the face of the cards. One thing I forgot to mention about the game in my review is that the soundtrack has been redone by composer Hitoshi Sakimoto. Also included is all of the storytelling (narration voice DLC) including that of the Japanese narrations. The updated game is also 4K optional, and contains cross-play functionality with the ability to import previous PS3, and PS Vita game saves. This is the penultimate version of 'Dragon's Crown'. I hope you didn't pass it up!

Troubling Tales From GameStop

Over the years I've become a frequent shopper at the local GameStop. Compared to most GameStop shops in the state the one nearest to me is actually quite large, and houses more merchandise than most. I go to it mostly out of convenience since it is a simple 15 minute drive from my house. Having to pay for games to be shipped to my house, and risking them coming in possibly damaged, or stolen is not the ideal scenario for a collector like me. While GameStop does have it's good side it also harbors an evil side built upon greed, mismanagement, and customer service that is either good or bad depending on who's working that day. Through the many shopping experiences that I've had at said GameStop I've had a few instances/encounters that made me rage inside, and nearly outwardly so. I actually spoke out against some things openly, and even took to the surveys, and online to voice my complaints in the past. Among said instances I've had pre-order bonuses nearly denied, and have even encountered employees (doing their job) trying to sell me a used game as new with a new price slapped on it. The latter happened to me again today, and that's what I'll be talking about in this very article ...

Archie vs Predator #1 - "Gamestop Exclusive Variant"

If you've not been visiting Gamestop's Power-up Rewards page for the past several months you'll have missed out on several comic book exclusives that were limited run variants. I'm talking about printed copies only in the low thousands. There have been everything from Marvel to DC comics, and now Dark Horse comics. The comic books will usually cost you an easily affordable 8,000 reward points (if you shop at Gamestop frequently), and will arrive at your doorstep in near mint, if not mint condition via a bag sandwiched between two cardboard boards. Speaking of which I finally got my '1 in 2,000' Gamestop variant today. I even snapped a photo of it's cover art for you! Yay!

Attack on Titan - "Colossal Titan" POP! Vinyl (FUNKO)

Recently while at Gamestop I noticed they had stocked a side shelf with the harder to find 'POP! Vinyl' toys. This was a pleasant surprise in that the adjacent Walmart super store only carried the same old boring Funko toys that nobody wanted. Things like the "Game of Thrones", and "My Little Ponies" were always on the Walmart sub-section shelves. Seeing that Gamestop had a budget priced giant version of the 'Attack on Titan' Colossal Titan though I could not help, but buy it. I'm a fan of horror themed toys, and the anatomical nature of this grotesque giant really stood out to me. Mind you I've never watched the "Attack on Titan" anime series, but something about the horrific titans found in that series is really cool. I figure that's probably why the series is as popular as it is. Anyways, I'd like to share with you some photos of the toy, and some thoughts, and opinions of it's design. The descriptions will be basic, but will give you an idea of the quality of these larger, and slightly more costly giant 'POP! Vinyl' figures.

Gamestop's "Renew or Die" Program

About a week, or more ago I received an odd, and menacing looking email from Gamestop. It was in regards to my soon to expire membership. The email heading was bluntly titled as, "Renew or Die". I thought it may have been a hacked email message, or either that someone over at Gamestop had gone over the deep end. As I came to find out it was the latter. Gamestop obviously finds it humorous to send fake death threats to motivate their customers to renew their subscriptions. I personally did not find it funny at all, and honestly may not renew my membership, because of it. I managed to capture a screen shot of a significant portion of the email, and will be sharing that with you. I hope this article gets tons of page views as it would serve as a proper lesson to Gamestop on what not to do when it comes to promoting their services.

GameStop PowerUp Rewards - "Mystery Grab Bag May 2014"

For those of you GameStop patrons who still shop at the store, and still redeem your PowerUp Rewards points for prizes I have a little sneak peek just for you. During my latest amassing of rewards points I chose to get the "Mystery Grab Bag" prize for May 2014. I've seen the Mystery Grab Bag offered for quite some time now, and have been dying to see what such a prize entails. I was curious as to if the prize cost would be equal to the prize point value of what was contained inside, or if it would be a much better deal. I'm sure some of you were wondering the same thing, so without further adieu let us get into what May's Mystery Grab Bag has gifted me ...

Gamestop Makes Good On Their Promise

Yesterday after raising six levels of hell, and making a total ass of myself online about the pre-order issues that I had with Gamestop I revisited the store, and ultimately found the situation resolved. Both Karen (the store manager), and Shawn (an employee) worked hard behind-the scenes on my behalf to right the wrongs that were done. After talking to Shawn personally, and squaring away all the harsh feelings I had my faith in Gamestop's services were renewed, and I once again found some common ground as well as some understanding of the efforts Gamestop as a company has put into place in order to make our experience a more welcome one. I'll be the first to admit I have found some things going on in the store in the past that were anything, but customer friendly. Regardless of this obviously negative side of the Gamestop customer, and business relations though I now see hope for the store regardless of it's unpopular standings with the gaming community. There are things that Gamestop has put into place to help fix anything that needs to be fixed business-wise. We as consumers merely have to voice our opinions in a respectful, and professional manner with these tools.

My Recent Clash With Gamestop

If you follow my Twitter timeline closely you'll no doubt have seen me ranting & raving the other day about my recent pre-order issues with Gamestop. I had put down $20 ahead of release date thinking that it would secure me the "Black Armor Ed." upgrade that was so heavily advertised via Gamestop's official website, Twitter account, and emails up to this very month. Little did I know that my pre-order experience would turn into an all-out three ring circus though. I do realize that I may have blown things out of proportion in regards to the employees being at fault, but someone over at Gamestop was definitely not doing their job right. At this point in time I'm solely pointing my finger at Gamestop management for the blame as this is the second time I've pre-ordered from an employee who was ill-prepared to handle my pre-order properly. I feel as if someone in upper management is failing to properly educate, and inform employees about what to do in all situations.

"Be Wary of Taco Bell's Video Game/Console Oriented Giveaways!!!"

Today while I was out on the road I decided to stop by the local Taco Bell to pick up my usual special order of two beef burritos with no onions (can't stand onions with the meat O_o). While waiting in line at the drive-thru a large multi-sectioned sign captured my attention. It stated that if I were to buy a large soda (which I was going to do anyways), or a certain type of combo meal I'd get a chance at winning a $500 Gamestop giftcard. I thought to myself that it wasn't a bad deal since I was going to order a large soda anyways. I might even get lucky, and win one of those gift cards. Upon inspection of the cup containing the text code I noticed that it said there were 12 winners a day until sometime in mid-December, and that the giveaway/contest had begun yesterday. It also said in plain text that there were two ways to enter. One way was to text the code to a certain number, and the second method of entry was to enter the code via a specific website which was also listed in the legal lingo.

"Gamestop's Cheap !@#$ Rewards"

As a gamer with few local gaming places to shop I usually choose to visit the Gamestop located in town to buy the games, and accessories that I want. It's actually not far from where I live (maybe 20 mins. at the most) which is a huge convenience. In all honesty though I'm not a huge fan of Gamestop's product pushing, or trade-in practices. I find being pressured into pre-ordering games during my in-store browsing to be an absolute annoyance, and as such I usually give the employee the cold shoulder. I also find the trade-in system to be a huge rip-off. You'd be better off selling your games on Craigslist than you would be trading them in for credit at the store. Added to these list of issues I have come to realize that the "Gamestop Rewards" program is not all that great. Sure there are some worthy high end rewards that take a sh*t ton of points to obtain, but the lower end items that look cool are usually franchise knock-offs that are made in China. This in itself rubs me the wrong way, and for many reasons.
