MKX XL - Impressions (PS4)

I had seriously thought about not even wasting my time posting an article on my thoughts about this game as my thoughts about MKX XL, and fighting games of the modern age remain pretty much intact despite the addition of new features, and new characters. Even with the new netcode in place in MKX XL it is still a flawed experience due to the developers' oversight when it comes to the problems plaguing competitive online gaming. Why I have to repeat myself so often in regards to this matter is beyond me. I tweet directly to developers with sound advice, and I even send emails about my concerns. None of which is heard, or taken into account. This new generation of online gaming experiences is definitely flawed when it comes to the online portions of said experiences, and MKX XL only serves to echo that fact.

Fighting Game Hacks: "Fact or Fiction?"

Once again I'm forced to prove that there is hacking, and cheating going on in the fighting game community. No one will listen to me, and people seem to think I'm a scrub with no knowledge on fighting games whatsoever. The following links I'm going to provide are for proof only. I absolutely DO NOT condone cheating, or hacking of any kind. You have to keep in mind when checking into this list that I was able to find these hacker sites & videos by simply "googling" the title of the game with the word "hacks" following it. It's made to be easily accessible. Anyone who doubts me after this needs wake up & smell the bullsh*t.

Freddy Krueger: "MK9's Worst Nightmare"

Just when I thought the online gameplay in Mortal Kombat (MK9) couldn't get any worse, the developers of the game added 'Freddy Krueger' into the fray. Normally most players would welcome this hellish denizen of dreams to the roster of blood thirsty MK9 kombatants, but in this case NetherRealm Studios really screwed things up. Freddy invades the game with super cheesy spamming combos that can be executed at long range, and close range. It may just be my imagination, but he also seems to be a lot quicker than the rest of the MK9 characters?

Mortal Kombat (2011): "Finishing Moves List (Xbox 360)"

I've decided to do an MK9 finishing moves list for all those Xbox 360 gamers out there. I realize how hard it can be finding all these finishing moves online, and deciphering them for your specific console. I will include a button key to help you out as well.

Mortal Kombat (Xbox 360): "Out of the SSFIV Frying Pan & Into the Fire"

Most of you that follow me on Twitter, or Youtube know that I have major issues with fighting game spammers, and online gaming tomfoolery (foolishness ^.^). When I pay $64 for a game I expect the online mode to be enjoyable. Mortal Kombat totally fails in this area. The main reason I got Mortal Kombat was for the online mode. I had recently owned it for the PS3, but never actually got to play online due to the Sony hacking incident.  I figured that since the game was getting so much good hype that it would be worth buying again. I was definitely anxious to try the online since I had missed out earlier.

Fighting Game Character DLC: "Is It Worth It?"

Recently gamers saw the release of Mortal Kombat's new DLC character 'Skarlet'. If I've researched correctly the 'Skarlet' DLC will cost players $4.99. This isn't bad compared to the DLC characters I bought for 'BlazBlue: Continuum Shift' ($7.99 ea.), but it's still a steep price to pay since it looks like MK's developers are looking to release a lot more characters. I'm all for new characters, but with the economy the way it is, it's getting hard for me to support my gaming habits. Currently I'm only able to focus my money on purchasing gaming necessities, and maybe one new title a month. I'm pretty sure other gamers are currently feeling the pinch from the economy's situation as well. One big issue I have with MK Developer's plan for future character releases is that some of the new ones are actually old ones. I like the old MK characters as much as the next fighting game enthusiast, but if they are going to charge five bucks a pop then I'd like to see brand new characters. That's just my stand on the issue.
