Here I sit at my PC pissing away time as I tell you about my first world luxury lifestyle. I do feel half bad about it, but I've worked hard to get where I'm at in life. I've even paid my dues by serving some serious time in some unmentionable psych ward at some locally undisclosed institute for the odd & unusual folk of the world. I think I earned this leisurely life. I do digress though. As far as the week goes it went by with a mixture of family drama, review work, and some much deserved time off. At one point in the week I made several trips to various local shopping centers to treat myself to some goodies which included a couple of newer dvds, and a couple of vidya games (I know I misspelled it). Amongst the new dvds I picked up were 'John Wick', and 'The Voices'. In the way of gaming purchases I bought the Shin Megami Tensei re-release of 'Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker', and even got 'Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate" for the pure heck of it. Two games which I've yet to touch. I blame that on "Gaming Gluttony". It's a terribly sinful disease.
As I just said I ended up buying, and watching 'John Wick' earlier in the week. After viewing it in it's entirety I fell in love with it. The only thing I found wrong with the film was the crudely applied Russian subtitle translations that seemed poorly edited in. Other than that complaint it was one of the best action films I've seen in a while. Keanu Reeves definitely did the 'John Wick' character justice. I highly recommend it to any reader who is of age. As far as 'The Voices' go Ryan Reynolds did a heck of a job in his role as a schizophrenic killer. The movie seemed like it was trying to go for the dark comedy theme, but was a bit heavy on the provided darkness. By the end of it all I thought to myself, "WTF did I just watch!?", but in a good sort of way. The end credits sequence is sort of odd, and misplaced amongst the rest of the film though, but I do get what the director was going for.
Other than the scoring of those two newly prized possessions I have been doing a fairly serious amount of gaming. I've mostly played 'Mortal Kombat X', and have spent most of my time with it fulfilling the daily faction challenges. I did start learning Kitana on the side, but have stuck to mostly using Erron Black as my main character. I figure Kitana's going to be my secondary go to character so using Erron Black doesn't get old. Kitana has some good combo mix-ups to keep players guessing, especially in her "Mournful" variation. I know the fan specials of the other two variations do good to stall out players, and allow for you to get in easier, but the Mournful Jade tribute variation has better special attacks.
Alongside MKX I've also continued to spend some time playing through "Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed" on my PS Vita. I was lucky enough to get the game early for review purposes, and have fallen deeply in love with the game since. The game itself could be summed up as being a mixture of Neptunia with features from Dynasty Warriors, and Senran Kagura thrown in for good measure. The game is definitely more action oriented. The action portion is a simplified version of the mob killing frenzy that the Dynasty Warriors games are known for. As far as the Senran Kagura features go it's all about the stripping off of the girls' clothes as they do battle. I know some might find it to be a bit naughty since the girls of Neptunia look younger, but in-game their character models do look a bit more maturer than usual. I still love the game very much, and highly recommend that all PS Vita owners pick it up this coming Tuesday. It'll set you back $39.99 if you are interested.
Well, I am going to get back to my day, and see what damage I can do in some more online MKX. I hope you enjoy your weekend, and that you too treat yourself to some leisurely activities. Before you know it the weekend will be over, and the work week will begin anew. Rest up while you can!
Your Last Samurai,
Brad Carver (OtakuDante)
