I am currently deep into chapter 6 season 1 of Fortnite, and I have to admit it has turned out to be one of the more interesting chapter starters. Everything from the Japanese themed map to the neo-feudal character designs really hit the spot. While the chapter started off with a huge XP earnings problem that has since been resolved through Epic Games adding a lot of new ways to unlock tiers on the battle pass things have seemingly worked out for the best. The initial adjustment to the battle star system was rightfully met with criticism, but it was nice to see Epic correct course.

Super Spy Raccoon | Switch Review
High scoring arcade action returns in the guise of yet another Nintendo Switch ported 2D collect-a-thon platformer from the Flynn's Arcade label! This stealthy Donkey Kong inspired game known as, "Super Spy Raccoon" has you playing as the titular tie and suit wearing Romeo Raccoon as he goes about stealing intel from the game's super villain.
This job, assuming you choose to accept it, entails dodging the view of lurking humanoid animal kingdom baddies while using cover, and an invincibility power-up to collect vanilla, and gold colored classified documents each worth a set amount of points. Collecting all of these clears a stage, and as per usual there are a series of themed stages with their own hazards, and guards waiting to spot the elusive Romeo as he goes about business. Getting enough points will net you a bonus life which is needed in this extremely challenging experience.

Antstream Arcade | PS5 Review
A while back Antstream Arcade was released on the PSN storefront. It was a monthly/yearly subscription service centered around the retro gaming scene. For $20 per subscription period you were given weekly updated playlists of retro games complete with community driven leaderboards, and competitions. From what I saw it included some more obscure retro titles as well as some of the more well known. In gist it was a dashboard accessed live service with a growing library of games to experience for a reasonable annual fee.

Fortnite Chapter 6 | First Impressions
Fortnite Chapter 6 kicked off today with the hype before it setting high expectations. We got a new Neo-Tokyo themed map with all sorts of gimmicks and Easter eggs as well as new traversal mechanics, and new weapons.
As a solo player my first few playthroughs were met mostly with what I like to refer to as the "PUBG" experience. By this I mean running into other players rarely happened until closer to the end. I think the map orientation, and locale positions play a huge part in this mostly barren experience. There's also the matter of quests that have people at different levels heading different routes making the cross ups fewer and far between.

Rage of the Dragons NEO | PS5 Review
Revived from the original NEO GEO release of 2002 is an all inclusive port of "Rage of the Dragons NEO". A fighting game spin-off of an old spin-off of Double Dragon. This Mexican (EVOGA), and SNK made 2D tag team fighter takes on some unique mechanics with a roster of 16 different competing characters as well as a boss character strictly playable in select modes from the start.
It is a four button fighter at it's core with light, and heavy versions of punch and kick. Complete with input specific specials, supers, a first impact dial-a-combo move, and a tag duplex team juggle starter. That and a 3 level gauge for executing the more costly moves. The game itself looks like a proper SNK fighter with hints of KOF's character designs throughout. Leaving the tag mechanics to set it apart from the competition.

VED | PS5 Review
Uncanny, and artistic by design, "VED" comes on the scene boldly spoken and steeped in it's own lore. An immersive experience that melds the world of magic with the world of humans in a technological fantasy driven sense, blending as it does so, turn based combat and visual novel style storytelling with individually voiced characters of interest.
In it's mythos we find that chaos and order are on the tipping scale, and that two men will forever change, through their choices, the destiny of both worlds. On one hand you have the order keepers known as the Brotherhood of VED, and on the other a technologically advanced organization led by a certain Mr. Tims. To begin with a VED by the name of Dook would defy this brotherhood to save a beloved acquaintance only to be banished from it for his meddling with magic. If you've got seven dollars, and an hour to spare Dolores Entertainment has a helluva scary story with you to share. It is a polygonal psychological horror game with a supernatural twist. Featuring a cast of three main characters, and some supporting cast members who find themselves in a looping drive around a serial killer's hometown.
It is this murderous hitchhiker who is picked up at the start on the way to a concert that kicks this eerie tale into full gear, and sets into motion a seemingly futile fight for survival. As the body count rises, and the truth behind the mystery surfaces things will escalate to a chilling climax. Leaving only a few survivors to tell the tale ...

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 | Multiplayer
I chose to start off this new Call of Duty experience, as I often times do, with the multiplayer first. I do this, because campaign critique is often times based mostly on opinion, and not everyone is going to like or dislike the story. The multiplayer, on the other hand, is the mode most returning players will turn to. That and Zombies. For me, personally, I spend most of my time in multiplayer which makes it easier for me to breakdown. What I found in my playthroughs is the following ...

Rogue Flight | PS5 Review
Truant Pixels' "Rogue Flight" is, but one of many stark reminders as to why AI is a potentially problematic pursuit. Super XYX | PS5 Review
With a story implied, but not shown we find the pilots of Super XYX braving six stages of bullet hell onslaught as they aim to face off against the world destroyer and his legion of mechanized bosses. As either the Green Knight or Helltiger you push upward through vertically scrolling top-down terrain blasting the fool out of the alien army before you.
Utilizing a one button shot enhanced by power-ups, and up to four joining satellites via power-ups you not only leave a path of destruction, but also farm the medals that are left behind for that top score on the leaderboard. The mission is simple yet challenging in the Toaplan sense. Making a full playthrough near impossible if you don't make the most of your bombs, and properly dodge the bullet hell before you.

Squirrels, at their very basic, are curious creatures with an inherent knack for puzzle solving. If they see something they want they find a way to get it. Even at the risk of injury these bush tailed tree rats will repeatedly press on towards that end goal. That same squirrelly mentality carries over in "Squirrel With A Gun", and unabashedly so.

A Hole New World | PS5 Review
Like a mixture of Castlevania and Mega Man, "A Hole New World" bursts on the scene in all it's retro glory as an action platformer with a story and a gameplay gimmick. As it turns out the world of Versee that the game takes place in was decisively divided into two separate good and evil worlds by the observing goddess that created it due to evil's growing corruption. Pneumata | PS5 Review
Taking on a Resident Evil, and Silent Hill style of horror survival approach "Pneumata" tries it's best to combine both worlds, but fails without the sense of narrative direction needed to flesh out a more cohesive plot. The game, in question, starts off abruptly with Davide Hernandez waking up at the witching hour of 3:33am. There's a vehicle sitting in his driveway waiting impatiently for his arrival ...
After shuffling out of bed, and taking notice of his bottle of anti-psychotics/painkillers on his bedside table along with photos of him and his missing wife Jamie hung around the house David heads out to greet the mystery guest. As soon as he does though the vehicle pulls off in a hurry leaving behind a box with a VHS tape inside. Taking it to the basement David does what anyone in his situation would do. He plays it on his downstairs television, and watches in horror as something otherworldly transpires. Showing a lost memory of when Jamie went missing, and the odd encounters with a mysterious entity in a lighthouse there.

Iron Meat | PS5 Review
Retrowave has quite possibly surpassed the nostalgia factor set by Konami back in their prime with their release of 'Iron Meat'. By bringing back the base Contra formula in a way that blends the hellish science fiction of 'DOOM', and the alien infestation of John Carpenter's "The Thing" the studio creates an experience hardcore enough by classic gaming standards, but also doable enough for the new-gen audience.
In it we find a legend born in the guise of an armed soldier named Vadim and an equally armed salesman named Dmitry Vindgradov. Playing into the oldschool two player couch co-op tradition wherein the player controls one or the either as they face off against constantly spawning enemy creatures while avoiding hazards before confronting gory gargantuan boss-like behemoths of flesh and iron. All in an effort to save planet Earth from a Soviet moon experiment gone awry.

The Deafening Silence of Self-Censorship
I know I've said what I'm about to say time and time again over the years, but the proof is now out in the open plain for everyone in the world to see. The EU, UN, and Canada among other nations have begun to censor thought, and actually jail people for thought crimes. You are told not to share certain political posts on social media that are deemed by tyrants to be against their law.
Those who dare go against that law in countries like the US that are not yet communist are punished by the algorithm, and buried, because of the news they share. A far worse fate awaits those within the already authoritarian countries. Mind you it's very relevant news, and paints the actual lawbreakers in a light they'd rather not be shown in, because what they are doing is criminal.

The New Fortnite Crew Pass Scam
Recently it came to my attention that the crew pass I thought carried over into the new season with it's perks and rewards has been implemented in a deceiving manner. Normally a crew pass would be released later in the season as to allow for a free battle pass next season plus a crew skin bundle and 1,000 V-Bucks. Turns out this last season the crew pass was released early to a point that it expired before the next season started. Leaving players like myself without the new battle pass.

Taking in mind the connecting mechanics, and roguelike tile drops you must carefully plot and plan your strategy in a 12 to 16 turn affair that coincides with three goals, and optional side quests that will optimize your gameplay outcome. All of which is doable in the game's three main modes of play.

Tiny Pixels Vol.1 - Ninpo Blast | PS5
Bikes, ninjas, and insectoid creatures are what make up this unique top-down shoot 'em up from EastAsiaSoft. Centered around a battle between nameless ninjas, and an army of alien insects and arachnids, 'Ninpo Blast' has the player shooting for that highscore to the tune of a mechanics system set to three buttons and a thumbstick.

Deathbound | PS5 Review
Deathbound, at it's core, is a soulslike game that stays true to it's title. Starting off with a pious soldier of the holy order of Lady Death named Therone we find an intertwining story that crosses the paths of different key characters who each have different beliefs within their futuristic pseudo-religious world.
As Therone faces certain death early on in the face of an essence cult monstrosity he is plunged into forgotten memories, and later into chance meetings with the corpses of fallen characters that each become bound to Therone's being. Allowing for the morphing of Therone into those characters for synergetic combos, and different playstyle mechanics. Furthering, through them, the understanding of his faith, and his relationship to the other religions. This being the crux of the gameplay experience, and the driving force behind the storytelling as well as the linear exploration set within a path driven landscape.

It features all the standard issue soulsborne content while doing it's own unique thing with the given mechanics. In it you play as a Forsaken individual in a sci-fi dystopian hellscape found within a mysterious Omnistructure that is guarded by larger than life bosses, and lesser menacing creatures. A maze-like infrastructure suspended above a misty abyss that is decorated with the remains of seemingly lost civilizations.

Willy's Wonderland | PS5 Review
Hot off the heels of the FNAF series "Willy's Wonderland", a game inspired by a game inspired movie, comes at us as a brawler instead of the usual business management horror experience. As an unnamed male or female character you embark on a mission to beat the bejeezus out of the Willy's Wonderland residents and animatronic baddies. Using the usual melee and special attacks you'll rack up points as you dish out damage to the tune of some grinding metal music.

Frogue | PS4 Review
Frogue, putting the "Frog" in "Roguelike". This hopping, and happening action packed puzzle platformer with a twist has you, the player, controlling a frog of the order of the Green Knights who is routinely combating an ancient evil whose castle arises ever so often like Dracula's castle from Castlevania. A frog swordsman able to slow down time with a chronosphere ability, and deal the deathblow before the enemy has time to react. Gameplay is centered around this base premise, and builds onto it with incremental roguelike ability upgrades as well as a combo system that rewards precision play.

Abathor | PS5 Review
Much like the high adventures of Conan the Barbarian and his misfit crew of anti-heroes/heroines, "Abathor" follows the journey of four unique individuals beholden to class based archetypes with accompanying names into a world only hinted about in the writings of Plato. We find a world where the Atlanteans succumb to their own greed and conquering efforts. A world engulfed by the demons which lie beyond the gate of Abathor that they opened for selfish gain.
It is the barbarian's, mage's, thief's and valkyrie's goal in all of this to kill off all of the loosed demons, and close the gate before anymore can come through. They'll travel mythical lands of fable and fortune as they seek to destroy the dark gems empowering Abathor at the end of each given area. Should they fail the world as they know it will fall to unspoken peril.

The First Descendant | Review In Progress
Having spent several hours in the campaign of "The First Descendant" I am seeing what a lot of other critics are seeing. Be it repetitive mission objectives, heavy grinding that incentivizes paying real money for unlocks, or the lack of balancing in solo ...
I can tell that this game needs some work to outpace more intricately woven looter shooter experiences like Destiny or Warframe. That being said I still think the game holds promise. I still like playing it and the tedious grind of it, as always, is something that attracts the attention of the OCD side of me. Not all gamers are built the same.

REVEIL | PS5 Review
REVEIL, like so many other modern survival horror games, leans heavily on the mystery surrounding a given protagonist or antagonist. In this case Walter Thompson is the one who finds himself in what seems to be a series of waking nightmares surrounding the whereabouts of his daughter, and wife.
As he traverses trippy intermingled environments that tie into the family's circus life, and life in general he grows closer to finding out why he is in the situation he is in, especially through the occasional hauntings of those he seeks. This journey of discovery, as a result, is a heavily orchestrated series of thematic puzzles in distorted and realistic settings that must be solved in order to get to the intended end, the final conclusion.

Fortnite WRECKED | Season Thoughts
For whatever reason Epic Games and their development team cycle between hits and misses when it comes to seasonal themes and battle pass offerings. Often times seasons fail to live up to their full potential for one reason or another. This season is no exception. In fact my dedicated gaming Bros have come to the common consensus that the season was a missed opportunity. That the mixture of Mad Max, MARVEL, Metallica, and Fallout features never truly let the season shine as a cohesive experience. Epic tried to bundle in too many things while never fully catering to any of them.

Friends Make For Fortnite Victories, But How Do Randoms Stack Up Against The Competition?
I've long said that it's friends that make Fortnite so fun. It is with friends that you not only have fun, but that you get wins. Friends coordinate their strategies better, and know how to best assist their squad mates. Friends have friends' backs.
How then do Randoms compare? Through experience Randoms are hit or miss. Some are kill hogs, others don't participate in the team effort, and others are too inexperienced to lead a team to victory. That being said you will find, on occasion, that rare squad, trio, or duo of Randoms that really knows Fortnite. Below you will find a stream where such Randoms did as Randoms do. I had some fun, and some losses, even a victory royale!

V Rising | A PS5 Review
V Rising, may or may not be what you expected. At first glance you might assume it's an arpg akin to Diablo or Path of Exile. That's not really the case though. From experience I found it to be more of a customized castle building and combat oriented MMO with co-op, solo, and pvp options.
V Rising is not unlike ARK, or Citadel: Forged With Fire outside of it's graphic design. The main difference being the vampire theme, and mechanics tied to vampirism. It includes, at it's core, day and night cycles, crafting, blood draining, survival elements, and even pattern based boss fights. It can be played solo on a local server without invites or on a local/online server with a populated density of players out to conquer or co-op with those who participate.

Uvalde vs Activision | Dante Weighs In
By now you've likely heard of the lawsuit against Activision by the Uvalde parents whose children were victims of the mass shooting. Their claim is that since Call of Duty had certain guns in it that, that was the cause for the shootings. Anyone with a logically thinking brain knows this is a scapegoat. It let's the blame fall on everything and everyone else except for those to blame.
The true culprits behind these mass shootings are often times the trans community, the enabling parents, and more often than not the government who has pumped fear porn propaganda into the trans community's minds to the point that they think their lives are literally in danger. Even in addressing the shooting White House staff continued their victimhood campaign for the shooter. This alone should tell you all you need to know.

Terra Memoria | A PS5 Review
You wouldn't be out of place if you dared to compare Dear Villagers' "Terra Memoria" to other RPGs in the genre. Visually, and thematically it showcases some obvious inspiration. Whether it's the technologically driven side of society contained within, or the one side of it fueled by crystals this familiar feel good story featuring a mashup of 2D sprites and 3D environments will take you on a fantastical journey weaving into tale it's own mythology based on a kingdom of animal-like humanoids who are both community and resource driven.
It is through chance meeting that 7 characters' paths will cross, and in doing so help to solve everyone's predicament over the span of the experience. The Land Beneath Us | A PS5 Review
Dear Villagers' latest roguelike release introduces to us a simulated computer world lightly steeped in Welsh mythology wherein the would be hero is tasked with saving it's real world creator. The creator, having dabbled in soul farming for the betterment of humanity through technology, has attracted the attention of some really bad guys. The devilish sort. Thus getting herself whisked away to God knows where ... most likely Hell.
As the duly appointed protagonist you take on turn based battles in isometric tile lined floors in set locations that are equally as rewarding as they are treacherous. Guided by the Main PC AI, and beholden to a hub of sorts that allows for upgrades, quest fulfillment, and the venturing forth into the various Hellscapes from the land below you must rinse and repeat playthroughs until you've beaten the final boss. Through gateways of varying types on each floor that are made available upon a room clearing you'll find lucrative opportunities to deck out your weapons and relics build while harvesting currencies, and dealing with the bad guys. A means to an end.

Candle Knight | A PS5 Review
Jandusoft & Dracma Studios', "Candle Knight" is a simple yet challenging Metroidvania soulslike with a cryptic and lightly poetic story about a dream involving a conjoined hero destined to either be a shining beacon or a fiery burden on the kingdom from which he hails. One could assume this hero or anti-hero is the Candle Knight, the game's titular protagonist.
Assumptions aside you will find for certain that gameplay in "Candle Knight" is a mixture of Metroidvania exploration and soulslike combat, to a lesser degree. That of which is wholly centered around an ignition gauge system with three tiers of heat that each carry with them damage and defensive balances that change according to attacks and blocking done in combat situations. Making it imperative to mind your ignition state for each battle, be it big or small.

Space Mercenary Defense Force | A PS5 Review
Space Mercenary Defense Force, EastAsiaSoft's latest out of this world indie, adopts survivor-like genre mechanics set in arena based shmup gameplay modes that's all about planetary defense against aliens and modified challenges for score, EXP, and currency.

All in a 20 minute long excruciating fight for survival wherein the wrong setup decision can lead to a premature demise.

Age of Water | A PS5 Review
Age of Water is Gaijin Entertainment's latest entry to sail onto the MMORPG scene. At it's helm is a quirky casting of diverse characters not unlike those seen in Borderlands. Their world, a flooded Earth wherein the polar ice caps melted covering every facet of land, almost completely. Only leaving the tops of skyscrapers and mountains to be safe havens for the remaining human population.
Since resources are scarce in this post-flood world there's constant warring via factions over said goods that occur in what is best described as Waterworld-esque sea skirmishes. Looters, bounty hunters, men of law, and pirates themselves are all out to nab the treasures they need to barter, and upgrade their ships with. Each at odds with everyone else out for the same base needs. It is quite literally survival of the fittest. You either sink or swim in this Dystopian future.

Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets | A PS5 Review
A bit janky, and a bit dated this unofficial survival horror spin-off to the Sherlock Holmes franchise sees us taking on the role of Jack Holmes, supposed great-great grandson of the famous Sherlock, as he investigates a peculiar case. It is in this search for a certain Frederick R. that he finds more than he bargained for.
Through basic exploration, and inquisitive sleuthing he finds himself in a world of puppets that are not what they seem. Seemingly infused with captives' organs, and body parts these haunting human-like manifestations stand between Jack and a case closed scenario. Getting to the bottom of it all will take both nerve, wit, and combat prowess.

ArcRunner | A PS5 Review
Not unlike HALO's own ring-like orbital space stations the Arc in 'ArcRunners' is also a self-containing satellite ecosystem for it's otherworldly inhabitants. Those inhabitants being robotic androids, and human cybernetic hybrids. All governed by an AI system that is there to maintain order. Unfortunately for the Arc, and it's robotic citizens a virus infiltrated the AI system turning all those tied to it into mechanized maniacs.
Thanks to an onboard counter-intelligence operative though you were summoned, or rather re-atomized, to save the day. Using one of three class based builds including the soldier, ninja, and hacker you set forth to reclaim each district utilizing the dropped weaponry, and augment upgrades to your advantage. All in a goal to stop the virus at it's source.

Outer Terror | PS5 Review
Coming at you like a cosmic horror comic book with a survivor-like gimmick, VoxPop Games', "Outer Terror" attempts to deliver the fiendish frights alongside mission driven objectives spanning across 4 different horror stories.
As a one or two player experience you'll choose the role of one of 10 unique survivors in cover art inclusive issues of "The Grey Death", "Frost Bite", "Killswitch", and "Other Side". Each character playable in the respective plots, and each with their own main weapon as well as special ability from the start. It is with weapons, and upgrades that these unlikely heroes and heroines will stack their arsenal of defensive and offensive options in an attempt to defeat the old gods who have returned to haunt humanity in the worst of ways.

Flightpath: Adventures in Venaris
Heavy on the storytelling, and rich in anime art EastAsiaSoft's latest foray into the shoot'em up genre via Illogic Games has us following closely the flight paths of three individuals as they take to the skies guns a blazing. This science fiction space adventure titled, "Flightpath: Adventures in Venaris" takes place across two separate modes including the story driven campaign and an endless roguelike mode that further builds upon the gimmicky flight path focus.
Ship-wise though it's your fairly standard bullet hell shmup with a strong emphasis on upgrades, and upgrade management. As you collect coins/credits, and fulfill your role in the provided plot you'll stop and shop for multiple weapons, shields, armors, generators, and stackable boosts that will determine your ability to output the desired defensive and offensive results based upon an underlying overload mechanic.

Withering Rooms | PS5
Steeped in witchcraft, occult mysticism, and medieval medical malpractices of the early 19th century we find a haunting roguelike gameplay experience featuring a patient of the Mostyn House Asylum known only as Nightingale. It is this poor unfortunate soul that finds herself in a perpetual dream or nightmare, if you will. Doomed to repeat her horrific attempt at escape until she finds the key to getting out.
This entails both combat, and a stealth approach as not everyone who resides in this place for choleric and psychiatric help are friendly. Avoiding conflict, and sometimes engaging in it while amassing the items necessary to stave off various afflictions, and death are the only way to wake up from this hellscape that was 18 years in the making.

Saviorless | PS5 Review
Very rarely do we get a game that is so epic in scale it reminds us of childhood favorite films. The kind of experience that lasts for generations as a cult classic among all who bare witness to it. I think Dear Villagers has that epic dark fantasy tale in their grasp with this latest Metroidvania, "Saviorless".
Not unlike "The Neverending Story" we get a guided protagonist in the way of the androgynous long haired Antar. A young boy who is seeking a fabled heron as he makes his way to the Smiling Islands. A place of legend where one could become the savior. Keeping him from ever finishing his tale though are a family of three narrators who insist on having Antar repeatedly seek that which he desires. Thus controlling both Antar, and the story being told for all time. It is a metaphorical take on the dangers of free will versus guided fate as there are two other joining protagonists who break free of the narration later on in an attempt to complete their own destinies. All while Antar continues forth through gauntlets of perilous puzzle driven platforming stages as the potential savior.

The State Of Gaming Q2 2024
Gaming and drama seems to go hand in hand these days. We've got a war waging between influencers, developers, and gamers. The latest of which has been called "Gamer Gate 2". If someone isn't trying to cancel someone else over inserted ideas or the right to insert certain ideas it's not a normal day in the industry. I've thrown in my thoughts on occasion regarding this escalating conflict of interests, and have not shied away from saying what needs to be said. Calling out propaganda, and the using of fan favorite IP's as a means to push a message for what it is. As one should.
That having been said Participating in this ongoing undoing of everything gaming can come at a cost, and I don't recommend blindly throwing opinions out on social media without knowing the risks, or knowing what you are talking about. There are some increasingly nefarious agents in the world of governmental control eyeing the current gaming battlefield, and they are keen on using it to further censor and silence dissent against their brand of politics through the gaming industry goings on. Resulting sometimes in threats of legal action, and invasive laws.

Call of Duty | Are Skins & Seasonal Updates Good Enough?
At the time of typing up this article I am waist deep in the current season's battle pass. The season was themed around "The Walking Dead", but also included guest characters from Dune as well as Warhammer 40K. The skin economy as such is one of the game's best achievements to date, especially in MWIII. The animated effects, tiers of skins, and the tracers all bring to the player a way to showcase their vested dominance/interest. That they are true supporting fans of the series willing to pay upwards of $20 a bundle to look cool in the heat of battle. Mind you I too have amassed quite the collection of skins, and could easily be considered a whale at this point. So this is not a dig at big spenders, nor is it a dig at the store offerings.

Astebros | PS4
Medieval mayhem ensues in this 2D platforming fantasy roguelike called, "Astebros". Coming on the scene as a pixeled precursor to the previously released "Demons of Asterborg" the story retroactively picks up the tale of the kingdom of Asterborg, and it's fall to minions of darkness. As one of three heroes including a Knight, A Ranger, and a Mage you venture forth under the king's command as you meet up with the designated guide who will be leading you on your adventure. It is through this mysteriously robed figure that you'll travel via horse and cart, individually or in 2 player co-op, as you fight through several themed lands to gain access to orbs that unlock further access to other more challenging areas near the vicinity of your camp.

Attack of the Karens | NS
Shmups meld with the roguelike genre in this meme made masterpiece that is, "Attack of the Karens". Taking the Karen meme and using it as the plot point for the futuristic retro inspired fight and flight efforts against city plaguing entitlement the game delivers comedic value in spades through textual conversation as well as fully voiced dialogue. This includes both the protagonist and the several cybernetic Karens.

Equality VS Equity In The Industry
I want to make something very clear. I'm all for naturally applied diversity & inclusivity that does not insert characters or plot points that are propaganda pieces for furthering the divide. Call me oldschool, but I believe in equality, not equity. Equity conditions people to not work their best or excel in whatever they do. It makes them dependent upon a slave system that uses & abuses their struggles (which is made by the people they champion) for power and control.

The Problem With "Hateful Insertions" ... DEI, ESG & Gamer Gate 2.0
Well, it seems some lessons in life are hard learned and no matter how clearly you explain away the issues with an issue it will always go right over someone's head. One leading example of this is with the incidents of someone calling someone else racist while they themselves are acting the part. The lack of awareness of the underlying hypocrisy only serves to invalidate any claims the one arguing racism has, especially for those who aren't psychologically demoralized to the point they can't see the truth for the lies.
Unfortunately a good portion of the population of world we all live in, and the society we inhabit therein has been conditioned to cling to old hatreds and to use that hate to grift for time in the spotlight as well as the resulting monetary gain. Perpetuating, and creating racism where there was none.

Rebel Transmute | PS5
As a cross between a Metroidvania and a soulsborne game, 'Rebel Transmute' boldly goes where most do not dare, and by that I mean with a protagonist that no one can connect with except on a representative level. Arrogant and pompous in her pursuit for her lost mother, Moon Mikono returns to an abandoned terraforming colony to seek closure ...
Filled with angst and pride she crash lands on Terra 6 of Foray only to be put into stasis for 12 years by a left behind resident. After which she continues, with the aid of the newly turned humanoid robot, to pursue the location of Wendy Mikono, her mother and lead scientist of the previously mentioned terraforming effort. It seems the scientists, in their work a year prior, unwittingly unleashed a plague of sparkblood on the colony. Mutating all lifeforms from fauna to flora into hostile creatures. Creating an ecosystem catastrophe. Thus is the story, in gist.

The Mobius Machine | PS5
The Mobius Machine might just be the most minimalist and magnificent Metroidvania to ever be released. It features a pint sized protagonist, or micronaut if you will, who finds himself in the middle of a perplexing situation where dream meets reality, perpetually.
In his dreams he sees a machine that implodes on a mysterious alien planet. He pursues an exit afterwards only to be gobbled up by an alien creature of gargantuan proportions. Ultimately awaking to a distress signal from the Isolaris moon. Something that intergalactic law demands he attend to lest he face criminal penalty. It is upon making his way there though that he crash lands, loses his robotic companion Robbie, and finds himself in an eerily familiar place. Jett Rider | PS5 Review
Sometimes publishers like to try to sneak something past paying players when they re-release a game. In some cases this occurs when they obtain a license for a previously published title. In which case they rename the game and add or remove content to make it seem like something new when it's obviously not. Seeing the gameplay preview of Jett Rider gave me Déjà vu for that very reason ...
I knew I recognized it from somewhere else. Likely from a review I had previously done. Come to find out I wasn't wrong. Jett Rider is basically a castrated version of "Willy Jetman: Astromonkey's Revenge". By that I mean the monkey bits, and funny comic panel intro were removed. I could speculate all day as to why, but one way or another content has been removed, and the game has been renamed. I highly suggest you read my previous review of "Willy Jetman: Astromonkey's Revenge" for insight on Jett Rider as the gameplay remains the same even though story elements were cut.

Saga of the Moon Priestess | PS5
Role reversal is a thing these days, especially in the realm of entertainment. Sometimes it's all about a dude in distress instead of a damsel. As is the case of EastAsiaSoft's latest 'Legend of Zelda' inspired indie game, "Saga of the Moon Priestess".
The plot is simple, but the exploration grand in this isometric dungeon focused action adventure. You take on the role of a Goddess faithful moon priestess named Sarissa. The would be savior of the missing prince who in a moment of weakness gave into the whims of evil to save his kingdom. Armed with a spear, and the guidance of the Goddess herself Sarissa ventures forth talking to persons of interest as she solves puzzles and works her way through the maze laden map. Using additional key items obtained from won boss battles in region based dungeons to unlock the path forward.

Lift the Veil | By Brad Carver
Below you will find my latest poem. A poem that speaks of things kept from plain sight. Things that will come to be known through the deeds of those that work behind the scenes to manipulate others. Truth always reveals itself, and is not disputable. You can live a lie, but the truth always comes calling. Enjoy this poem, and may it inspire you to look beyond the veil.

Nephenthesys | PS5 Review
In the world of shmups some games hit the mark, and others miss it by a longshot. EastAsiaSoft's Nephenthesys falls under the latter category. A shmup so absurdly difficult that it defeats the purpose of the genre. Before I get too far ahead of myself though let me give you the backstory, and the details ...
Nephenthesys starts as some shoot 'em ups do with space exploration in the future. Through said exploration revealing an alien adversary. In this case the year is 200X, and Earth has established a lunar base on the moon, and has set forth to exploring the universe starting with Mars.
In their journey of discovery they stumble upon an unusual object that turns out to be a beacon for a large alien craft. In doing so they inadvertently attract the alien craft's attention. Ushering it towards engagement against Earth's own space force. As pilot Cobra1, and in various ships with unique shot types as well as drones that function as additional attacks or shields, you are to confront the incoming alien threat and assess the object in question.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III | Blackcell Season One Review
As most of you are aware by now Modern Warfare III's Blackcell battle pass is a premium edition of the standard battle pass that includes bonus Blackcell operator/weapon skins, and items not included in the standard edition. It'll run you about $30 per season, and includes 100 tiers to unlock through a meticulous grind offset by some free unlocks that give you a head start on others grinding the standard battle pass. Not only do you get free tier unlocks (upwards of 20), but you also get the harder to unlock end pass skins from the start. Letting you show off, in advance, what others will have to grind all 100 tiers to get.
