Xbox Indie Games Summer Uprising 2011: "The Next Evolution in Gaming"

Recently I've gotten into the business of reviewing XBLIG (Xbox Live Indie Games), and XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade Games). I was previously working for various review sites on the web, but I wanted to start my own site. The availability of XBLIG, and XBLA games made this dream possible for me. During the development of my own site I've been following many indie game developers' works, and I've had the privilege to get to know some of them. After starting my game review blog I noticed a steady increase in the the interest of Xbox 360 indie games which was definitely good. It made the Xbox 360 a more attractive venue for indie game developers.

Reviewers, and developers are quickly picking up on the fact that XBLIG titles are one of the hottest new things in Xbox 360's gaming library. Like some of the XBLIG, and XBLA reviewers out there I have been bringing up to date reviews of the latest titles available in the Xbox Live game library. My goal is to get the games the recognition they deserve, just like the Summer Uprising coordinators are trying to do. With the IGSU (Indie Game Summer Uprising) at hand I truly believe this will soon become a mainstream thing. I have a gut feeling that Xbox indie games, and indie games for other consoles will pick up very fast. If you you haven't noticed the attention it's receiving yet, you will soon enough.

There is good news for the Xbox 360 gaming community. The developers of Xbox's indie games newest titles are currently hard at work trying to bring their creations to attention for a chance to be selected for the IGSU event. This means more great indie games are on their way. I have been keeping track of some of the Dream.Build.Play 2011 trailers available on the net, and I have to say that there are some really impressive titles in the works. If you ever want to sneak a peek at what's going on you can find some of the developers' trailers on Youtube. Some of the indie games I have high hopes for include 'Chester', 'Cute Things Dying Violently', 'Dragons vs. Spaceships', and 'The Jump Hero'. The gaming community, and the developers will all get there chance to vote on the available entries in the coming months.

Developers have already begun for voting on the 8 titles to represent the platform (July 4th - July 18th). The community will get their chance to vote for 2 additional titles from August 1st - 15th on the IGSU facebook page. By early September the promotions, and winning game titles will be released. I strongly encourage both developers, and the gaming community to participate in this event. There are some real gems out there that can be found in the indie games library, and Xbox has be good to bring that to attention. I know of no other console out there that you can find this unique, and affordable gaming experience. The developers, and the people behind this project have truly brought Xbox 360 gaming to the next level. I'm definitely glad to be a part of the Xbox gaming community.

Developers can visit this website for details on submitting entries:
