Fortnite | Battle Pass & Zero Build ... Budget Gaming Tips 2022

These days gamers are limited on what they can or cannot buy in regards to video games. This includes full-on retail releases, DLC, and things like battle passes in free to play games. For a while now I have struggled in that area like most gamers. Where do I put my extra money each month? What do I buy into? These are questions I'm always asking myself. I am personally known for splurging on multiple releases each month including DLC, and even battle passes. Out of all of that I have learned that some things are more bang for your buck than others though. Whether it be the replay value, length of the game, or whether or not there is a plan for ongoing content what I buy depends wholly on those measures of worth. You could call me a budget gamer. A guy who purposefully seeks out the best deals. Be it day one releases that may become harder to find later on, or games on sale I buy what best benefits me.

In the way of more value for your dollar I have found console platforms like the PS4 allow you to skip the PS Plus monthly costs, and play games that are free at base level without the subscription fee. This is good in that it allows you to invest in experiences that offer continuous rewards through battle pass programs, or cosmetic offerings while not spending on the gated entry fee or the full asking price for the more prestigious releases. While these games may very well go away in the future it's the value of the experience, especially with friends, that stands out as a worthwhile investment. Not only that, but you can save up some cash for that PS5 or Xbox Series X that your heart desires. At the end of the day our game collections aren't coming with us when we die, so why not invest in memories more than building a collection? Why not do so without sacrificing money that can be better used on needs?

One game I've found that offers such a memorable experience along these lines is Fortnite. I know people hate on it all the time, but having given it a second chance I found that the game has a cheap battle pass that not only gives you plenty to work towards, but that it also rewards the paying gamer more than any other battle pass I've seen. You put down a little over ten dollars, and the cosmetics you earn for committing to the daily grind more than makes up for the cost. In an industry where cosmetics will fetch a hefty $20 price tag things like this make more sense. Let me not get started about the rising pricing of retail releases either. We all know that at some point the ability to support our gaming will take a hit, and cheaper alternatives will make the wiser choice, so why not start trying them out now? As far as battle passes in free to play games go it's a method of monetization that I can easily get behind, especially from a game that has given us so much including a mode of play that changes things up in a more competitively casual manner without requiring a premium payout or sweaty skills. I'm speaking of the new zero build mode in Fortnite, btw.

When it comes down to making memories that matter joining up with my friends in Fortnite has been the most fun I've had in a long time, and being able to build upon those friendly bonds while playing something enjoyable makes it all the more worthwhile. At the end of the day memories are what will carry us through the darker times in our lives, and being able to do that through games like Fortnite only adds to the paid for benefits that the game has to offer. Furthermore the communities of these types of games are often times filled with lonely gamers looking for friends. In fact I had a friend request during a live stream from a gamer who said they had no friends. My response was we're all friends here. I sent them a friend invite, and played some matches with them after the stream. It's these chance encounters with strangers sometimes end up playing out as if they were destined to happen or are meant to be. Creating friendships that benefit both parties involved in the long run. My long time Destiny partner Clarky Cat can attest to that. I met her through Destiny, and we have learned we are so much alike that it's uncanny. It felt like Destiny, us meeting (pun intended).

Whether you're out to save a penny or to make memories with new friends there are ways to go about it that won't end up in more loss than gain. It is imperative in modern times that we spend, and invest wisely. Not only our money, but our time as well. Do not waste a moment on something that does not pay you back more than you put in. Likewise with money. Do not waste money that could be put to better use. Advice for the ages, as it were. And on that note I bid you all a blessed week. The weekend is almost upon us, and time is ticking away. Set out to make some good memories today!
