Bem Feito | PS5 Review

The world of gaming is no stranger to creepypastas. From haunted game cartridges to haunted hardware, and even scary software there are many frightening tales of the supernatural to find out there involving video games and gamers alike. Bem Feito, a creepypasta in it's own right, takes that very premise and runs wild with it. Becoming a player focused 4th wall breaking experience through an emulated PC operating system and an obscure ROM of a game for an old handheld Jogaroto gaming device.

By browsing the emulated OS files we find email inquiries and locked content hinting about the mysterious game, and lack of a playable copy. Leading us, the player, to play through the Bem Feito game ourselves as we take on daily chores as the main protagonist Reginaldo. A lonely boy who only wants to be loved. Through chance meetings with strangers things begin to take a dark twist into the nightmare realm if certain criteria are met.

Bem Feito, itself, is a game rom displayed on a emulated OS screen wherein the player takes control of Reginaldo as he awakes each day to complete a laundry list of chores. Each task requiring interactions with certain tools or props as well as various parts of Reginaldo's home property. On occasion Reginaldo will receive a knock at the door and a surprise guest with which the chore checklist coincides. You can opt to follow the list all the way through, or not at all. Each fulfillment or lack thereof giving way to a different outcome. One of which is truly terrifying.

Visually, and audibly Bem Feito is an unnerving Japanese folklore style game complete with simulated computer distortions, and haunting imagery amplified by sound bytes that mimic blood curdling screams. Through the interactive life sim itself we see the tasks completed take a toll on Reginaldo, and eventually break the fourth wall acknowledging the players' part in the whole ordeal. What you did or did not do accounted for. Each list checked off or left untouched furthering the visual impact or absence of it as you make your way through a week's work of calendar days. Ending each day with a nap only to repeat the cycle to it's conclusion.

There are extras and secrets to find in Bem Feito, and the operating system files. There is content locked behind passwords, trophies tied to certain achievements, and even OS wallpapers for the unlocking. It's this careful attention to creepypasta simulation that makes the game all the more eerie, and impactful. Files that mention Polybius, and Cicada extend upon the game's creep factor.

The Verdict ...

Buy at your own risk. Parody or not Bem Feito plays out like a real life creepypasta directed at the player who is playing it. It is so uncanny and plausibly realistic that one might actually begin to believe the outcome of their playthrough. Personally it's not something I take lightly given my encounters with the supernatural, but for what it's worth it succeeded in creeping me out. It is that good of a creepypasta game. If you are brave enough, and fancy a fright you might take chance with this one. You have been warned though ...
