Interview with @unthrown of EpTic Gaming

As a gamer my online friends definitely mean a lot to me. Whether I'm tweeting with them via Twitter, or enjoying some game time with them it always brightens my day. One such friend goes by the Twitter alias @unthrown. Me, and @unthrown have been friends for a while now, and through Twitter I have found that we have a lot in common. Not only are both of us serious gamers, but we also work as video game journalists. During one of our Twitter chats I talked with @unthrown about doing an interview. He ended up accepting the offer without hesitation. Shortly afterwards I worked on coming up with an interview to share with you guys, and gals. The interview has been in the works for a while, but today I got the interview answers back from him. I hope you enjoy this interview, and get to know my friend a little better as a result.

INTERVIEW:

Brad (OtakuDante): "I would like to start off this interview properly ... We've been friends on Twitter for a while now, so I know who you are (I Think ^.^). On the other hand some of my readers, and followers may not know about you. With that being said I think it's only right that my readers get to know you. If you would please tell us a little about yourself, and why you are into video games."

Unthrown: Firstly, let me say thank you for the opportunity to do this interview with you! Well what can I say about myself? My name is Jamie I am 33 and have been into games for about 25 years! I have been playing games right from being a small child with the Commodore CPC 64, tape loaded amazing piece of kit (at the time) I moved up as technology progressed and eventually started dabbling in coding my own games, from BBC Basic up to more recently I have started some C++ projects.

Brad (OtakuDante): "When it comes to gaming do you have a favorite genre/s, and if so what are some games that you like to play within the genre/s? If you like a wide variety of video games please let us know what some specific game titles you're into."

Unthrown: Mostly I play FPS (First Person Shooters) such as the Call of Duty series, Battlefield 3 and some Halo, but recently I have taken some time away from them and started some more Role Playing Games such as World of Warcraft, Command and Conquer and more than anything just now Minecraft on the Xbox 360. I am fortunate though and do have a large selection of games, consoles and PC's to indulge myself in gaming.

Brad (OtakuDante): "I stopped by your website today to check it out, and I thought it looked rather cool. I noticed it had some gaming articles, a link to your Youtube videos, and a forum link. As a reviewer I know we all have our own styles, and topics/games that we like to cover. What sort of games, and topics do you cover on your site? Youtube videos?"

Unthrown: Well the site is a bit haywire at the minute to be honest. I am part of EpTic Gaming who makes videos for Youtube, spanning a wide variety of games and content. As far as reviewing goes I am trying to get something going for that but at the minute I am unsure of what that will eventually be.

Brad (OtakuDante): "I realize I should have started from "The Beginning" before that previous question, so let me do that now ... What is your review site's name, and what was your inspiration for it's title and other features?"

Unthrown: The site is epticgaming.com , the inspiration is from the group of guys I am involved with in gaming.

Brad (OtakuDante): "Who is the "Target" audience for your review site? Who do you think it's best suited for?"

Unthrown: I would like to think we will eventually have a larger 'target' audience but for the minute it is solely aimed at gamers.

Brad (OtakuDante): "How long have you been into reviewing video games?"

Unthrown: I have been reviewing games for about 5 years on and off.

Brad (OtakuDante): "Did you have prior review jobs such as I have, and if so whom did you review for? How Long?"

Unthrown: I reviewed and posted gaming news for a couple of sites before, one was chattygamer.com that, unfortunately is no longer active. I do an online radio show every now and again that I like to put short reviews, discussions and news on there.

Brad (OtakuDante): "I have a goal as a reviewer, and that is to eventually become mainstream. I would like to own a real website where I review retail games, and controllers for multiple consoles. What are your goals, and aspirations when it comes to reviewing?"

Unthrown: My ultimate goal is the same as yours, fingers crossed someday it will come true for both of us!

Brad (OtakuDante): "Now that we've got the gaming, and website questions pretty much squared away it's time for some more personal ones ... I'm a huge fan of music, and I assume everyone has their favorites when it comes to that sort of entertainment. What are some genres of music you like? What are some of your favorite songs?"

Unthrown: As I mentioned I run a radio broadcast so as you can imagine my music collection has to be very substantial and as I listen to a lot of music its hard to pin point certain genres as my favorite, but my guilty pleasure is The Carpenters and some older style music such as James Taylor.

Brad (OtakuDante): "I'll be honest I love food. I absolutely love pizza which I think is a must-have for all people. I also like Southern food such as chicken, potatoes, and other such food items. What are some foods that you like?"

Unthrown: Well I work full time in a Fish and Chip shop owned by my family, so Fish is always on the menu, I would live off spicy food though if I had the choice!

Brad (OtakuDante): "I'm fairly sure everyone who has played video games has their own favorite movies, Tv shows, and cartoons. What are some things you're interested in when it comes to visual media? What are some of your favorite movies? Anime? Cartoons?"

Unthrown: I like any movie with Al Pacino or Jason Statham, I loved the Guyver series (anime) and you cannot beat the old Hanna Barbera cartoons and Road Runner!

Brad (OtakuDante): "Well, I think that about wraps it up. I know the review wasn't seriously long, but I believe I covered some significant things. I always love to do interviews with developers, and friends. It has actually been rather fun coming up with all of these questions. I hope the questions I asked get the gaming community interested in what you're doing with your site. I wish you the best in your reviewing venture my excellent friend. Thanks for your time!"

Unthrown:

Thank you Brad! Its been a pleasure and honor! I wish you all the best for the future and as our paths cross regularly (twitter paths) I am sure we will continue to talk and game together!
