Lets' Talk - "Youtube's Copyright Apocalypse"

This morning while doing my usual Youtube browsing I happened upon one of the most unnerving videos ever related to the gaming/entertainment industry. Boogie2988, the great Youtuber that he is decided to give us fair warning about Youtube's copyright policy change, and did so in a well spoken and professional manner. He was to the point with his argument, and everything he said was relevant. For that I'm truly thankful. I myself have been hit in the past by copyright claims, an would hate to have to pony up a serious amount of dough for legal purposes for my continued inactions. Being hit by a copyright notice earlier in the week was enough I to make me take the hint, and clean out my own Youtube channel this morning. I think deep down I knew this day was coming, especially seeing as the gaming industry as a whole has become one large greedy cesspool. There's no doubt in my mind that game developers, console makers, and entertainment providers alike are going to see this thing through to it's bitter end. All they are concerned about is getting rich, and they don't care how they go about it. You better believe that these creators of the gaming/entertainment industry could care less about the consumer, and more about themselves.

If you continue to visit my Youtube channel you'll find that most of the gameplay still there is from offered in-game upload services. Sadly this will likely be the trend for even the more famous Youtube content providers as well. I fear that Youtube has taken the side of the devil in this particular war on copyright issues, and no doubt have their hands in the pocket via some shady underhanded deal as well. To me it looks like a get rich quick scheme, and as legally right as it is it will hurt the gaming, and entertainment industry more than anyone can realize.

Boogie2988 said it well when he mentioned the fact that a lot of us gamers go to Youtube for gameplay videos in order to learn more about the games we are interested in. I for one go there frequently to learn about potential review material as well as to find out about products that I'm thinking about buying. To cut out that option would make gamers scared to spend there hard earned money on games/entertainment, and would eventually spell doom for the gaming/entertainment industry as we know it. Thinking about it now I can only think of one thing that would make game developers, and console makers make such a rash decision, and that would be that they have some sort of inside scoop on the future economic standings. Something that we worldly citizens are not privileged to. That or the realization that the entertainment industry as a whole is about to belly up, and make way for a form of entertainment not seen since the Roman Empire days (Public Executions, Prostitution, Gladiatorial Events ...). In the sense of the first conclusion it would be like a last ditch effort for the companies to get as rich as possible before the economy tanks. The latter conclusion of course would signify a more dire, and more end times related scenario. I hope that neither theory is the case, but with freedoms being constantly taken away, and legalities that restrain online/offline activities being put into place it definitely looks like a possibility.

I don't want to go all conspiracy theorist on you guys, but something is making these companies so money hungry that they'd bite the hand that feeds them. All I can tell you is that if you have a Youtube channel with gameplay content, songs, or movie footage you'd better check up on it, an start cleaning house fast. As for all those greedy enterprises, and companies out there I have a message for you. Your greed will take you down into the bottomless pit along with all your riches. You have my word on that. There's a good reason why greed is one of the seven deadly sins. Keep that in mind.

" ... and like rats they scurried about clawing at one another, fighting over the last remaining crumbs."
