Memorial Day Weekend Blog Log (May 2015)

Here I sit at my dinosaur of a PC sipping on some Dr.Pepper, which apparently confirms a certain westerner stereotype about all of us soda guzzling, candy bar gobbling, and fast food munching Americans. To hell with that stereotype! I eat healthy, and treat myself to the occasional soda pop. What of it!? I even drink tea, water, and milk (which is probably no good due to all the steroids, and sh*t put into cows) ... Anyways, I digress. I'm here today to talk about my week, and my weekend. This week has been interesting, bothersome at times, but interesting nonetheless. I've had the usual family drama, and crisis arise. My Grandmother is still not doing well at all, and still seems to be on a health decline. My family also continues to invade my personal, and private space by spying on me. I've always been the black sheep of my family, and everyone in said family seems to think they know what's best for me. Buncha control freaks are what they are. Aside from that my week has been nothing, but a gaming grindfest.

During the week I spent a heck of a lot of free time playing video games. While I do like the hobby I was left feeling at the end of each day that it was a waste of valuable time. I had hoped to get some new games for review, but that never happened (aside from the Zen Pinball 2 table I'm currently working on). I did, however manage to type up a dvd review for Marc Dorcel though. I can't tell you how much of a privilege it is to be able to review films for one of France's most prestigious adult film studios. That is no easy feat convincing such a studio to back a lowly blog like mine. I suppose talents speak a lot on one's behalf though. As far as gaming reviews go if the gaming PR, and devs keep ignoring me, and avoiding my review inquiries I may have to stick with doing adult film reviews for a while. Either that, or waste my time on my hobbies alone. What you have to understand about me is that before my journalism career came to be I was a living breathing waste of life. I sat on my ass all day doing jack sh*t, or slept the hours away due to my ongoing depression. When the journalism opportunity presented itself though it gave me a purpose in life. It gave me something of importance to turn to. I finally felt needed, and appreciated thanks to you guys, and gals. It was something I'd been missing for a lot of my life.

Without gaming, and adult film journalism to turn to I think I might not have made it to this day alive. I know that probably sounds overly dramatic, but it's the truth. Depression has nearly cost me my life a couple of times. That's why I'm always thanking everyone for their support. Without all of you I'd be lost, truly lost.

Other events this week included a trip to my brother's man cave where we enjoyed a theatrical movie experience on his huge HDTV with a complimentary batch of theater style popcorn from a popcorn machine. I even got some M&Ms from his candy vending machine. I have to admit that my Bro's man cave is pretty darn badass. As far as the movie selection goes it was a poor pick, but my brother does pick some "B" movies sometimes. The title of said movie happened to be "The Marine 4". It was the most unbelievable military style action film I've ever seen. It was filled with tons of cliche moments, and gun play that would make Star War's stormtroopers seem like professional snipers. I swear there were so many moments when the main protagonists were obviously in the range of the gunfire, but weren't struck by the barrage of bullets that were headed in their direction from a short range distance. I was like, "WTF!?" numerous times, and my brother agreed.

Past all of that, and into the actual weekend I've continued my vidya game grindfest by playing Destiny, and Mortal Kombat X. Both games have their faults, but they are keeping my attention for some unknown reason. When it comes to MKX I've done a heck of a lot of winning online. The lagswitchers, and cheaters just can't seem to best my Erron Black. What a beast he is! Seeing as it's currently Sunday though, and Zen Studio's "Portal Pinball" table will be released Tuesday I'm going to have to dedicate some time to it, so I can deliver that review to you guys, and gals. Expect an intro paragraph filled with Portal background info as well as a detailed write/type up of what the table entails. I'll try to figure out how to score the skillshots, so I can share that with you as well.

I think that's about it. I'm going to attempt to enjoy the rest of this holiday weekend, and get a ton more gaming done. I hope that you do the same as well. Next week the work will begin anew, and we'll once again have to put in the work that pays for our living. Have an Awesome weekend my friends, and my readers!

Brad Carver (OtakuDante)
