Recently I was contacted by 'Gentleman Squid Studio' about their latest PC game. and charity efforts. As it turns out this former XBLIG development team has gotten into the holiday spirit of giving, and have put together a limited time charity involving the holiday themed game that they have created. That game being, "Here Runs Santa Claus". The charity tied to said game will help benefit those in need at 'St. Jude's Children Research Hospital'. It will be released on Black Friday (November 27), and will only be available through December 26. The asking donation price is $5.00, but you can donate as much as you like with your purchase of the game. Just know that a percentage of each game purchase/donation will go to the previously mentioned charity.
For those of you wondering what "Here Runs Santa Claus" is it's a running, and constantly side-scrolling platformer featuring jolly old St. Nick himself. The game is done up in a pixel style that looks absolutely amazing. Within the game you will be playing as Santa Claus as he bounds across rooftops delivering toys to all the good girls, and boys. The catch being that Santa needs treats to continue forward. As you leap from rooftop to rooftop you will try to collect as many of these treats as possible to get as far as you can. Of course the game takes in the amount of time you travel as well as how far you are able to get, and tallies it up for a final score at the end of your run. The really cool thing about all this is that 'Gentleman Squid Studio' wants everyone to participate for the duration of the game's online offering. This will add a sort of competitive edge to the experience to see how close gamers can get Santa Claus to his ultimate goal. The end goal of course being delivering presents to all the children of the world. In that sense the giving you will be doing through donations will mirror what the in-game Santa is trying to achieve by continuing forward. My hope is that this game does well for St. Jude, and that you guys enjoy the game for the delightful experience that it is. Be sure to give what you can as this is definitely a worthy charity.
For those of you looking to get into the spirit of giving this holiday season I will leave with you the link to the website where you can purchase this game, and donate to St. Jude's. Just keep in mind that the game will go live to the public on November 27 of this year. Come December 26 you will no longer be able to download the game as it will be retired for the season, so do keep that in mind. It'll definitely make for a unique streaming opportunity if you are one of those ladies, or gentlemen who care about spreading the word about charities.
