Citadel: Forged With Fire | A Verdict Rewritten

I like to be upfront, and honest when I've made an unfair judgment, or shared something that does not hold true. My recent verdict for Citadel falls in line with that very situation. I had disclosed that the grind on the servers were unfairly balanced according to resources made available, and the pace at which your character levels up. While my claim holds true on some servers there exists other custom servers that allow for fast tracking leveling, and material harvesting. Each server comes labeled accordingly, and through menu toggles you can sort through the various custom lobbies within the listing. Both on the PVE, and PvP side of things. I recently got into a PVE server for my area, and leveling was quickly done as was the harvesting of needed materials. Making it an experience on par with the singleplayer I absolutely adore, but with other online players accounted for. The stress on the servers wasn't bad either though there still exists some lag, and frame rate drops.

A couple of things still hold true from my original verdict regardless of the newfound positives, and they include the building mechanics that could use some fine tuning options in regards to piece adjusting, and placement. Also resources still feel limited despite their respawning, but it does make you get out further into the world more as an added incentive for exploration sake. There's that and the stress on the PS4 console hardware which is probably not going to be fixed any time soon, supposing it can be. Going back to the positives ... you'll find that leveling is actually not as problematic as I initially made it seem in that certain crafting stations will award you higher XP points for crafting certain items. Ultimately making the leveling easier, especially on a server that has fast access in place as a custom setting. That accompanied by daily quests, quests, and boss/creature encounters makes leveling less of the burden it could obviously be. In server play there's also events that happen when rifts appear. You'll get a notification when one does, and will be able to look it up on the map for the location. It's something extra that does not seem to occur in singleplayer, and obviously ties in the co-op aspect of gameplay.

Other features I did not discuss in my previous posts includes the equipment that comes in different rarities. Ranging from common to epic with stats, and perks accounted for. Not only can you get different rarities, and assign two spells to each weapon, but you can also add certain ingredients to cast/added weapon spells that will increase things such as range, leech, or bleed among others as well. It fits in perfectly with the RPG theme, and gives you a reason to craft to find that perfect version of the weapon you want to use. Something else worth mentioning is the daytime, and nighttime cycles. With the changing of the day comes different creatures. With different creatures you get different materials. Along with the day, and night cycles also comes dynamic weather changes, and lighting that basically add a sense of realism to the environments you explore. Needless to say the world of Ignus is a living, breathing, and vibrant ecosystem brought to life in a way other games of the genre have failed to do.

Now For The Final Verdict ...

Even though there are some nagging problems in Citadel like creatures spawning out of nowhere, creatures glitching into the environments, resources nearby being limited, and bothersome lag I find the game to be enjoyable enough. In singleplayer with all the cheats switched on it's a truly fun, and zen-like experience. Even the online server play can be as fun, but only if you choose a server that does not demand the tedious base level grind that would amount to a ridiculous time sink that no gamer has the time for. All things considered I now believe this game to be a worthy buy, and definitely a game changer for the genre. It is a streamlined, ease of access MMO with gorgeous graphics, and a beautiful soundtrack fitting of the magical theme the game is all about. Definitely pick it up if you don't mind another long term gaming commitment!
