Below you will find my latest poem. One that I think we all can relate to. One that speaks of the numbers game. The very thing that people use to measure fortune, and fame. I hope you enjoy it, and that it speaks to your soul. Never, ever get lost to the numbers, and never think that those numbers reflect someone's worth. For it's in what we do, and not the attention we get that speaks volumes on our behalf.
The Numbers Game
When numbers are the bottom line,
and people you know you pay no mind
It's time to ditch the sell
Lest you find yourself in the depths of Hell
For greed can never be satisfied,
and the numbers, well, they've always lied
True worth is not a numbers game
It's not the value of the dollar, or the resulting fame
True worth lies with those who care
Those called friends who freely share,
Those who don't withhold
gifts of wisdom or of love, the things that are best never sold
So the next time you weigh yours or someone else's worth on the numbers scale
Ditch the idea quickly before you fail
Before you fail at this life,
and the cost accrued causes you strife.
