Castle Kong | Nintendo Switch Tournament And Cash Prizes!!!

Fans of Donkey Kong, and high scoring competition REJOICE!!! Drowning Monkey Games has created an homage to the classic Nintendo title 'Donkey Kong', added in their own twists, and will be hosting a cash prize inclusive tournament of said game for those of you skilled enough to earn the top scores. This game will be releasing on February 25th at which point the tournament will begin. Rules applied. You will find a link to the rules, and details later on in this article.

Castle Kong, much like it's inspiration, is all about rescuing the princess who waits anxiously at the top of layered platforms connected by ladders for her rescuer. In order to rescue fair damsel you must guide the protagonist as he climbs the ladders, and scales platforms all while avoiding and dealing with hazards. The game has a total of 4 main areas with different themes, and 22 stages with increasing challenges to take on. You have only three lives with which to save the princess, and do away with the game's antagonist via a Kill Screen. Unlike traditional Donkey Kong gameplay though there are other scoring opportunities added in such as that of collecting letters to spell the word KONG. There's even a take on the old Donkey Kong hammer which is a way to deal with baddies on the way up. The previously mentioned letter collecting bit is actually more akin to retro classics like ARABIAN though, but still in the same vein as the main source of inspiration.

As with most games on the Switch you'll find that Castle Kong can be played using the Flip Grip for a more vertical experience. Something that fans of retro gaming may or may not enjoy. Whether or not it offers an advantage or disadvantage is anyone's guess. Visually the game is a 2.5D action platformer with basic controls, and a retro feel making the challenges at hand as familiar, and as close to the source material as it can possibly be. Unlike the game it pays homage to, Castle Kong does set itself apart with more point based mechanics though, and harbors a threat to the princess that's all it's own. To boot it also has the same replay value as Donkey Kong, if not more. The added scoring elements make the possibility for higher and higher scores even more possible. Add in the point farming, and masters of this genre can easily capitalize on all it has to offer. The game itself will cost you only $6.99 (US). This is budget pricing for a game with a lot of value. Not to mention there's the tournament which can earn you some serious cash!!!

Code Giveaway. At some point between now, and the 25th I will be putting a code notice in my Gacha Grab page. I will share the link to it when it goes live on Twitter. You will either need to be following me on Twitter or keep checking the page's tab for the notification. The giveaway will not extend past the 25th, and you will need to DM me to win the code. It's a first come, first serve kind of deal. Do know this is a US/NA region code. It'll still work if you have a US account outside of the US. Keep that in mind.
