Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War | Season 3 Battle Pass

When Cold War first launched there was no denying that there was a sub par assortment of battle pass incentives that were made available. The themes, the skins, and the cosmetics left a lot to be desired. As time passed, and the second season went underway we got a glimpse of what could be, though. Reactive camo blueprints were introduced along with better emblems, keychains, and banners. Even the freeloaders got things worth grinding for. In season three this was all ramped up even further in the quality department. Not only were we getting two new weapons, but a collection of bits and baubles that were more worth the money than ever before. While there is no coherent theme to any of it the mixed bag of items definitely has some standout things worth grinding for. The new Roman Imperial gun skins, the Alien auto rifle, and the UFO keychain are but a handful of items that you'll find if you are willing to put down the cash for it this latest season. That, and the new master craft weapons really give you what you paid for.

In season two I actually committed to, and completed the 100 tiers of the battle pass from an entry point buy in. Though it was a trying experience given the player problem I was intent on finishing it. By the end I felt accomplished to that extent, and rewarded handsomely for my efforts. While it pales in comparison to what season 3 has to offer season two was definitely a step in the right direction. Between season two, and three I've seen that the studio is willing to upgrade the battle pass for those willing to pay for it. My hope is that this trend of increasing quality per season continues, and that we get more noteworthy cosmetics for our commitment going forward.

I do know the new CoD is just around the corner, but I feel Cold War still has some life left in it. I hope that the developer keeps up the momentum in supporting the online experience, and continues adding content updates on the regular. Too many times have I seen developers who release these yearly titles leave gamers hanging while they focus on the next project. Hopefully that is not the case this go around. I feel it is important that Activision, Treyarch, and the other studios show that they are committed to offering the best experience during each release's life cycle. To at least build confidence in the brand, and keep it from feeling stale, routine, and worn out.

If you haven't yet seen the battle pass, but own Cold War or Modern Warfare I suggest you go take a look. If you fancy what you see, and feel the grind is worth it, put down the base entry fee ($10), and go for it. I am once again committed to that 100 tier grind, and will more than likely see it through to the end. I've got my sights set on some end tier rewards that I really want!
