Succubus With Guns | PS4 Review

Some games should never see the light of day. Games that reach hard for your money without deserving it should never ever be entertained. They should not be shown off for the clicks, nor should they be shilled to the public for moneymaking sake. SometimesYou's "Succubus With Guns" is such a game. It puts the "Ass" in "Asset Flips" quite literally.

As the gamer you get to play as a weeaboo's wet dream. A sultry succubus that awakens from her slumber after a satanic ritual gone awry. In a mission to combat the spawning minions of Hell, and the corrupted undead her walking talking display of TNA (Tits N Ass) struggles to do even that. Through janky, and jittery gameplay with a whole host of problems the Arse-nal she's packing does little to help her as she trudges along wave after wave as if she's some Soulsborne anti-heroine. Blasting fools with hot lead, and slashing away with her claws, and sword. All in a wave based affair with end bosses that can be cheesed to death just by standing near them and attacking.

Gameplay is to the point in "Succubus With Guns", and to a fault. You have two modes of play including a Story Mode and an Endless Mode. Story mode is a simplistic, and flawed from point A to point B experience in which you face off against numbered waves of spawning enemies, and a final boss per level.

In completing the waves, and boss you open up access to the next level, and next weapon gimmick. Each new level introduces a new weapon, and it is with those limited ammo guns and melee weapons that you, as the Succubus, are able to deal the damage needed to be done in order to progress. The catch is you have a certain amount of health, and a stamina meter for actions. When health is depleted it's not an immediate GAME OVER though. You will find a little Resurrect Timer mini-game that allows you to collect health mists which will replenish lost health upon timer countdown completion. This can only be done a couple of times until all health mists are used up. Alternatively heart power-ups like ammo power-ups can be collected as they spawn.

The Succubus isn't without her mechanics either. In the game she has an evasive roll, can sprint, and can jump. She can even crouch. Weapon-wise she can reload a gun when the gun's magazine is empty, and can aim with a reticle from a 3rd person point of view. She can also swing melee weapons supposing you have the stamina to do so.

As a character the game really does want you to see The Succubi's waddling Ass-ets, and her back boobs as that is the key selling point here. That, and the mobs of frenzied anime cat girls, obese weeaboos, and gimped out simps. An obvious jab at Western anime culture. Despite being decently rendered, and well lit the Succubus, and the entire cast of creatures look, and behave like Ass-et flips. Animations are janky, gameplay is jittery, and framerate issues horrible. Leading to hitbox problems, and a basic aiming system that is about as inaccurate as they come.

Outside of the main story levels endless mode offers an odd score based experience with no leaderboard that lasts as long as you have health. Allowing you to rack up score as you make kills, and collect blue/red orbs that play into the weapon/consumer crafting gimmick that I could not figure out. This side option is no better than the main portion of this game, and is likely the worst tacked on mode ever to grace a video game in the history of video games. It adds no real incentive to replay, and the main course alone is a trial in patience and perseverance. I could not finish this game. It was so infuriating, and so half-assed that I cannot even put into words how bad it was without letting loose some expletives. Which I already have.

The Verdict ...

They say sex sells, but in the case of this anime atrocity I don't see it. There's not enough TNA in the world of gaming to save this wannabe weeaboo targeted game experience. I don't even know why a publisher such as SometimesYou who has put out decent indies would even dare to release something this bad? Maybe it's desperation, but whatever the reason may be let this game serve as a lesson to publishers. Don't sell asset flip games. It makes an Ass out of you and E.T. ... sorry, had to lighten the mood somehow, lol! Don't buy this one friends. It's not worth it.
