Pinball FX2 (XBLA): "Captain America"

The Captain America Pinball FX2 table is one of the best decorated out of the currently available Marvel Pinball tables. If features a very patriotic theme with the Captain front, and center as the tables primary illustration. Accompanying him on this table are 3D models of Baron Zemo, Red Skull, and the Sleeper. Each of the villains has a unique objective that can be completed to score more points. Red Skull goes fist to fist with Captain America in a sparring bout. Baron Zemo actually has a couple of objectives on this table. One of his objectives involves destroying canisters of 'Adhesive X'. The other involves trying to survive his 'Death Ray' by hitting the cluster of bumpers on the left side of the table. The ramps on this table sport a trench style appearance, and are somewhat difficult to access. I found that changing the view to '2' helps out greatly in hitting the ramps just right though.

Captain America's table features a lot of little side objectives that include saving 'Bucky', helping the 'Howlers' out, and obtaining the 'Cosmic Cube'. Like I've mentioned in the other tables' reviews, the key to getting a highscore is completing the various objectives available as often as you can. The view setting I mentioned in the previous paragraph also helps in that area. The comic book themes that were used in this table include content from 'Captain America's 65th Anniversary Special'. The Red Skull, and 'Cosmic' Cube' part actually come from a different story arc though.

I actually liked this table despite the difficulty I had scoring on it. The art style held true to the comic books, and the voice-overs were done really well. I like the little extras like the sound of the bomber going overhead, and the gunfire sounds that were made when certain bumpers were hit. The table had a nice World War II look to it with the trench style ramps, and the various medals that were placed randomly on it. The color had sort of a faded look that also made it stand out. I definitely think this table is worth adding to your collection if you haven't done so already. It pays homage to one of the oldest superheroes out there in a really Awesome way.
