"Crapcom or Capcom? That is the Question"

This morning while doing my usual routine Youtube browsing I happened upon a video from "ReviewTechUSA" detailing the current crisis that is plaguing Capcom. It seems that Capcom is about to lose their ass financially. They don't even have enough money in the bank to bring a Street Fighter port to the next-gen consoles! This is definitely bad news. While most of us, including myself have spent this year, and past years hating on Capcom I can't help but feel sorry for them. Sure, they pulled some serious crap in the way of DLC BS, and even produced some crappy titles along the way, but does that really warrant the all out hate bashing they received?

It seems to me that many gaming companies these days are failing in some way or another just as Capcom did. You have to keep in mind that it's not just Capcom making these mistakes. I remember, back in the day when Capcom was the go to company that every kid sought out when it came to their next gaming adventure/experience. They produced some of the best games the industry has ever seen. Things like "Resident Evil", 'Mega Man", and even the many fighting games they released throughout the years would not have been realized if it weren't for their creative genius. The fact is that we all make mistakes at some point in our lives. Does that mean we'll be screwed forever? HELL NO! The same thing applies to gaming companies such as Capcom. Given the proper chance they to could make things right, and regain their loyal fans' trust, tenfold.

Therein lies the problem though. Gamers these days are so hellbent on holding a grudge, and bitching about things through social media that opinions have now become a process of metaphorical stoning. I'm guilty of such myself. I fully realize that Capcom has made some serious mistakes in their past, but if they learn from those mistakes I feel they could revive the fighting game, and horror-survival franchises they were once recognized for. They are very capable of doing so. With that being said though, in their current financial situation we may never get to realize their true potential during this next generation of gaming. That my friends is a truly sad thing. Who knows, that new "Darkstalkers 4" could have been a thing. Perhaps even "Resident Evil" could have seen a true successor to the original experience that we all loved.

I guess what I'm saying is that we shouldn't do all this excessive hate bashing, and virtual stoning. Give the companies a chance to better their products, and just maybe we could see a CoD killer arise from the most unsuspecting of places. As far as fault goes, Capcom did deserve an outcry from loyal gamers, just not a relentless verbal assault. Do I think Capcom deserved the angry cries from gamers for their on-disc DLC practices? Yes. Do I think they deserved to be told that their latest Resident Evil releases were not what we had hoped for? Yes. Even so I still DO NOT think they should have been heckled as much as they were, and this is coming from a man who has had his own personal issues with Capcom. I'm just as guilty as many of you who gave Capcom the cold shoulder.

In the end I hope Capcom prevails, and shows us that they too can compete with the next-gen offerings. I want them to revive the fighting game franchises that I grew up playing, and I want to be able to play the ever loving sh*t out of the new fighter that they release, should they get the opportunity to do so. I apologize to Capcom for my part in the bashing, and I wish them the best during these trying times. If you are reading this Capcom I hope to hell you show us that you are able to be the company that we once adored. Show us gamers that you can be as great as you were back in the NES era. Revive our faith in you, and our hope in the industry that we love. Deliver to us gaming titles that will set us free from the casual gaming state of mind. We want to be scared sh*tless by a new horror-survival title, We want to bash the hell out of our online opponents in a proper fighting game, and at the same time we want you to avoid bad practices such as that of on-disc DLC. Shows that you can do so!
