I love comic books, I really do ... Recently during a return visit to the local "Area 52" comic & gaming shop I entered in the midst of a Star Wars RPG tabletop tournament. It was a sight to behold. I felt as if I were in the middle of some sort of comic-con gaming event with a bunch of RPG enthusisasts (was gonna say geeks, but refrained from doing so) standing around observing things. I stopped to take in the sight of people gathering, and enjoying their hobby before doing some shopping. It was a festive sight indeed. The atmosphere was intense with anticipation, and the rolling of multi-sided die. There was even a girl who looked like she was snapping photos of everyone with her smartphone. I think she even snuck one of me (OMG!!!). Anyways I was a man on a mission with limited time to linger, so I went about my shopping biz as usual.
This time around I browsed the comic book lined shelves, and scrutinized every offered cover multiple times as I tend to do. I was looking for number one issues as well as some series follow-up issues. I managed to spot three particular comic books that caught my attention. One of them was the latest issue of "Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. 1952 #2". I had gotten issue number one of the spin-off series last month, so it was a natural selection for me. I love me some Hellboy comics!!!

Aside from my Hellboy pickings I also found a second printing of a number one issue of some new IMAGE series called "Autumnlands Tooth & Claw #1". Seeing that there was only two copies left, and it was in it's second printing I figured it must be popular. I actually ended up getting it for free though through the store's "Buy 10 get one free" program. It was definitely a good deal in my personal opinion.

Lastly I was surprised to have found a comic book that I had inquired about earlier on twitter when tweeting at Ed Boon of the Mortal Kombat fame. It is none other than DC's "Mortal Kombat X #1" which recently debut as a digital comic book series for ePads, and mobile devices. I was very surprised to see it in print, and immediately snatched it up after noticing there were only two copies left in the store in which a ton of people were there to shop. I already watched a Youtube breakdown of the digital version of the comic book, but having a physical number one comic book issue based on a fighting game I've grown up loving is definitely a special deal to me.

Well, there you have it. My latest comic book pick-ups. As usual I'll leave in saying that supporting your local hobby shops is extremely important. It's a convenience that should not be taken lightly. As easy as it is to shop online we all know that deliveries can sometimes be an issue with collectibles of any sort, so a hobby shop like "Area 52" is a true treasure to have around. Trust me.
Before I close, behold my latest TPB (Trade Paperback)!!! It is none other than "Marvel Zombies Complete Collection 1". I have personally never read the Marvel Zombies series in it's entirety, because I kept my single issues in their sleeves. I will definitely be reading this bad boy when I get some spare time to do so!!!
