Shinorubi | PS5 Review

Bursting forth like a badass bullet hell ballet filled with a clashing of neon colors this futuristic shmup about a group of ruling elite, and the alien mercenaries that seeks to topple them brings all the challenges and then some.

Featuring 8 different pilots with their own unique backstories, and ships you face off against the Shinorubi King and his generals of the planetary BAAA empire across several unique modes of play. Your target being the group of power hungry persons of interest out to nab the universe's most powerful and mysterious resource.

With an army of supporting generals led by the lead King's own daughter they aim to stop you in your tracks. One legend tells of the BAAA rulers' success, and another the thwarting of that success by mercenaries. The latter of which holds true story-wise in this particular game.

QUOTE: About Knowledge

"Unlearn what you were taught so that you can learn the truth by and for yourself ...

Did you ever wonder why Adam and Eve were told not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good & evil, and why it meant certain death if they did? Knowing of something that has any part to do with evil is susceptible to corruption. Knowledge is not pure. It is not solely good. Therefore to know is to corrupt one's self. Did you know that not knowing enriches creativity. It helps us to excel, innovate, and create with no bounds. Trying to create freely in a known reality limits the creation, and the evolution therein. Knowing is a prison for the mind for everything is certain, and in that certainty, limited." - Brad C. Happy Holidays From The Inferno!!!

It is that time of year. A time of celebration, of family, and of closure for our struggles within the past 365 days. We face uncertainty on many fronts as we move towards 2024, the new year. The world is more volatile than it's ever been. We're on the brink of world war III, and politics keeps on dividing and conquering us all.

Somewhere in the midst of it all we still manage to partake of the bread and circuses as those in Rome did before their societal collapse. Distractions that only serve to momentarily stave off any worries or fears lingering in the backs of our minds. My hope is that in 2024 we don't get so distracted by the bread and circuses that we let our world fall apart any further. As Ayn Rand said, "You can ignore reality, but you cannot escape the consequences of ignoring reality".

Cookie Cutter | PS5 Review

Rogue Game's "Cookie Cutter" isn't a Cookie Cutter Metroidvania by most measures. Though mechanics may be genre familiar, and the labyrinthine layout of the map inspired this particular soulsborne hybrid hits home with some mature themes, and gameplay elements all it's own.

Centered around a future of transhumanist tyranny brought on by the discovery of a new energy source by the ruling corporation, and the linked Garbanzo family we find a dystopia of souls enslaved in mechanical bodies known as Denzels. Slave driven servants designed solely to build a mecca for their masters.

Shinji, a reluctant participant in the design of these maliciously manipulated machinations, decides one day to create her own Denzel free of influence in order to infiltrate the energy source's location, and to undo what has been done. A rebellious act that follows in a tale of love torn lesbian revenge so bloody it should be a Tarantino grindhouse flick.

Hell Well | PS5 Review

From shmups to weed smoking aliens in buzzsaw UFOs Panda Indie Studio's journey of indie innovation seems to know no bounds. In fact they've now gone off the deep end into satanic territory with a roguelike tower defense game called, "Hell Well".

In Hell Well the player controls a satanic priest with a grimoire that can summon demons for defense at the expense of gathered angel's souls. Seems the angels have caught on to this priest's antics, and are in hot pursuit sending their own army to combat the growing demonic threat. As the priest your goal is simple. Survive waves of pursuing angels while reaping their souls, and summoning demons to continue your rampage until you topple the hierarchy and the boss angel at the end of a run.

Call of Duty MW3 Season 1 Update

It took a while, but season 1 of MWIII is finally here. It comes with a new Black Cell pass that is free for vault edition owners, or $30 for those with standard editions of the game. Cosmetics, and skins have taken on a new look, and are more than the usual gold and black color schemes in some cases.

Alongside the new cosmetics comes new maps. One of which is the smaller map known as "Meat". Meat is a fast and frenetic close quarters map that takes in account all team based objective modes. Making shotguns, and melee weapons more viable, especially with off the radar loadouts. Paying attention to the mini-map, and your surroundings on this map are a tough undertaking as flanking points are plentiful.

Fortnite OG Recap

I spent the OG season of Fortnite with my two teammates who play regularly. We've stuck together since the permanent release of the Zero Build mode a few years back. It has been our go to mode for battle pass grinding, and has netted us some wins, some losses, and some bling.

Going into the OG season we had our expectations set high. We were hoping, like others, that some of the original battle pass skins would return, but what we got was a sort of remix of those skins as well as a battle pass one third the size of the regular season's. Something Epic greedily charged premium price for. Outside of the battle pass grind the grind for crowns was trying in OG. The revamped map in Zero Build made things extra difficult. On top of that sweats were out in force. I managed to bank 3 Crown Royales in total wherein my team got 6 and 9, respectively. Of course I played a lot less this season than they did.
