Freddy Krueger: "MK9's Worst Nightmare"

Just when I thought the online gameplay in Mortal Kombat (MK9) couldn't get any worse, the developers of the game added 'Freddy Krueger' into the fray. Normally most players would welcome this hellish denizen of dreams to the roster of blood thirsty MK9 kombatants, but in this case NetherRealm Studios really screwed things up. Freddy invades the game with super cheesy spamming combos that can be executed at long range, and close range. It may just be my imagination, but he also seems to be a lot quicker than the rest of the MK9 characters?

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Ed. "The Good & The Bad"

Those of you who know me have learned that I love fighting games. It's my absolute favorite genre when it comes to video games, and I can definitely pwn some of the more hardcore online gamers. Before I made my transition over to the Xbox 360 console I was a very skilled PS3 fighting game player. In all honesty getting used to the 360's controller has not been an easy road for me, especially when it comes to pulling off ultras, and supers in SSFIV. I'm a gamer who takes full advantage of the thumb pad on a game controller, and the 360's is horrible. At times the thumb pad on it is almost unresponsive. Aside from those issues I've adapted fairly well to using the thumb stick. I can see there will be a long road of training ahead of me if I wish to become as good as I was with the PS3's controller. Now allow me to tell you the good, and bad features I discovered while playing the updated Arcade Edition ...

Fighting Game Character DLC: "Is It Worth It?"

Recently gamers saw the release of Mortal Kombat's new DLC character 'Skarlet'. If I've researched correctly the 'Skarlet' DLC will cost players $4.99. This isn't bad compared to the DLC characters I bought for 'BlazBlue: Continuum Shift' ($7.99 ea.), but it's still a steep price to pay since it looks like MK's developers are looking to release a lot more characters. I'm all for new characters, but with the economy the way it is, it's getting hard for me to support my gaming habits. Currently I'm only able to focus my money on purchasing gaming necessities, and maybe one new title a month. I'm pretty sure other gamers are currently feeling the pinch from the economy's situation as well. One big issue I have with MK Developer's plan for future character releases is that some of the new ones are actually old ones. I like the old MK characters as much as the next fighting game enthusiast, but if they are going to charge five bucks a pop then I'd like to see brand new characters. That's just my stand on the issue.
